Research interests:
My main main duty is to direct COMP, the Centre of Excellence for Computational Nanoscience at Aalto. I am also the Chair of Psi-k, the leading international network for electronic-structure theory, computation and applications.
My research interests include:
Computational and theoretical condensed-matter and materials physics; nanosciences and nanotechnology; complex materials and multiscale modelling of their properties and processing; high-performance computing and networking; numerical and computational methods.
I am also interested in the history of science and the dialogue between science and society, and am active in a number organisations at this interface.

Teaching:
I am not giving any courses this semester. However, I am more than happy to discuss physics, nanoscience and computing (or anything else for that matter) at all times. If not travelling, you will find me in my office or at the weekly COMP or Physics Department seminars, and at Aalto Physics Colloquia.
