Molecular Materials

Summer job application period 1.-10.2. Read more about the application process at the summer job page of the Department of Applied Physics (in Finnish) or see our brochure (pdf, in English).

The multidisciplinary Molecular Materials group consists both of physicists and chemists aiming at functional materials based on self-assembly and its hierarchies. We use polymers, liquid crystals, polypeptides, carbon-based materials, conjugated polymers, and cellulose nanofibers as structural units in supramolecular assemblies. The group is a part of Department of Applied Physics at Helsinki University of Technology.

Molecular Materials group is a member of Center for New Materials. The group is located at the Nanotalo building in Otaniemi campus area. The leaders of the group are Academy Professor Olli Ikkala and Professor Janne Ruokolainen.

The newly built Nanomicroscopy Center is administered by Professor Janne Ruokolainen. The equipment in the center consists of various high resolution microscopy apparatus for soft, hard and biomaterial characterization.
